We hope you enjoy looking at our class page. We will update this regularly throughout the year with photographs of what we have been doing and also with key information which you may find useful. If you have any questions, please contact the class teacher who will be able to help.
Please click the link above to find out what we are working towards this half term. School is so busy at the moment. We also have a tennis coach in on a Friday for PE.
Please remember PE kit (white/red t shirt, black leggings or jogging bottoms and trainers) on a FRIDAY. Also ensure children bring in a water bottle as they will be needing to rehydrate.
Spring 2023
English and Guided Reading
Towards the end of this half term we have been studying the text Hansel and Gretel. The children have enjoyed finding out about new vocabulary words such as: famine, stooped, lagging, weary and seized. They have been creating fabulous setting descriptions of the Gingerbread House where the 'old lady' lived. Our next task is to innovate the story to introduce our own characters and this is where the children are able to use their imagination more.
Maths
We have had a busy assessment week, but are now moving on with our maths and if you would like to help at home, please continue to practise on Times Table Rock Stars. If you need support logging in, please mention it.
Foundation Subjects
In Art, we have been learning about the artist Jane Davis. She uses colour and texture and we are about to create our own art work. In Music, we have been learning about rhythm and finding the pulse. Last week we even created our own improvisation by transforming the melody of 'The Wheels on the Bus.' We are about to come to the end of the Geography unit on Catalonia and it has been so lovely to see how much knowledge the children have digested. We decided we would like to try churros, so fingers crossed that's something we can try doing.
Spelling Bee
Year 3 are taking a trip to Pudsey Waterloo on Tuesday 28th March for the Owlcotes Spelling Bee. It has been such a busy time for learning our spellings. Please see the lists below if you want to check which ones we have been learning. There are 3 lists that increase in difficulty.
The children had a superb morning at Pudsey Waterloo. They battled it out and spelt so many tricky words. Environment, separate, actually…and more! What superstars they all were! Well done to everyone for taking part, you certainly made us very proud and represented our school so well.
ARTIST OF THE MONTH - Jane Davies
We have been inspired this month when we have learnt about the artist Jane Davies. She is a talented artist and we have looked at one of her floral pieces. The children learnt about texture and warm and cold colours. The children produced some excellent pieces and their pieces are below.
