Armley Park Primary School

Our Values

At Armley Park Primary School, we want all children to feel happy, safe and confident. We have high expectations for all children, academically and socially, and we want them to achieve the very best they can.

Our aims:

Throughout their time at Armley Park Primary School, we will provide children with:

-a nurturing and inclusive environment where everyone feels safe and respected.

-the confidence to feel ‘safe to fail’, learn from their mistakes and develop responsibility to lead their own learning.

-teaching which focuses on embedding core skills and allows opportunities to master concepts which will support life-long learning through a broad and balanced curriculum.

-opportunities to enhance their knowledge of the curriculum through first hand and real-life experiences to promote curiosity and develop a love of learning.

-chances for their parents and carers to become involved in their journey through school.

-opportunities to be a proud member of the wider Armley community.

We will achieve our aims by:

-ensuring that everyone is treated with respect and that if they have any worries, someone will always listen to them.

-developing children’s confidence to know that is it normal to make mistakes and to use these to improve.

-providing a curriculum which allows the children to take chances and lead their own learning rather than a prescriptive approach which narrows the opportunities for developing further.

-focusing on ensuring basic skills in reading, writing and maths are fully embedded to provide solid foundations to build upon.

-teaching a curriculum which has been developed to engage children’s interests and inspires them to want to learn. The curriculum aims to be broad and balanced and will evolve to meet the needs of all children to equip them with the knowledge and skills they will need as they grow and develop.

-providing opportunities for parents and carers to support their child’s learning by knowing what is being taught in school, how it is taught, how they can support at home as well as having opportunities to celebrate their successes.

-making new, and developing existing, links with the wider Armley community to allow children to feel a sense of belonging and to provide opportunities to support those in need.

Our Shared Values:

We would like all children to be:

resilient

curious

independent

responsible

collaborative

respectful

caring

determined

These key values will underpin all aspects of school life. We will help children to develop them throughout their time at Armley Park as we believe these will support their overall development and prepare them for the future.

Y6 have been thinking of all the different ways to show our school values.

Promoting Fundamental British Values

In accordance with The Department for Education we aim to actively promote British values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.

The Key Values are:

  • Democracy
  • Rule of law
  • Individual liberty
  • Mutual respect
  • Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

As part of a broad and balanced curriculum, we promote thrugh the curriculum the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at the school and of society.
