Year 4 have been creating prototypes for new fairground games based on old Victorian games. Check out the demonstration video below!

Year 4 have been having fun investigating length and perimeter this week.
Year 4 have been enjoying Science Week.
Today we have been investigating reflections using mirrors. Everyone especially enjoyed creating mirror codes and then letting their partner decipher them!

This week Year 4 have been learning about philosophy during our P4C week. We have been thinking about lots of philosophical questions all week. On Wednesday, we participated in a virtual meeting with Year 4 from Calverley Parkside Primary School and were given the question: "What would persuade you to steal?" We gave Calverley Parkside the question: "Can you know what someone is thinking?".

This week, Year 4 have been learning about representing numbers to 10,000. We all had lots of fun using our new concrete resources, including our Base 10 and counters.

In our penultimate week learning about British art and artists we have been learning about Howard Hodgkin and abstract art. Year 4 created their own 'abstract cut up art' and the effect was very impressive.
We also studied Sonia Boyce and created our own memory postcards.

We have had a busy week in Art learning about Lucian Freud and creating portraits using pastels. All of the children enjoyed using this medium and created great portraits.

This week has flown by and Year 4 have been working hard all week. We have started to study the opening of 'The Iron Man' in English and pick out the language features Ted Hughes used. In Maths we have been learning about place value.
In the afternoons we have been busy recreating Thomas Gainsborough’s painting, ‘Mr and Mrs Andrews’. We split the painting up and painted a section each before putting the painting back together.

Year 4 have impressed me this week with their attitude towards learning. In English they have worked hard on their descriptive writing inspired by the short film 'Book of butterflies'. If you would like to watch the short clip with your child at home please use the link below.

Year 4 have now completed illustrating their books inspired by Paula Rego. As you can see they did a great job illustrating the story of the 'Monkey And The Crocodile'.
Week 1 update:
Year 4 are looking very smart in their new school jumpers and have settled back into school brilliantly. We have enjoyed using our new maths resources and have been retelling the story of The Book of Butterflies in our writing lessons. In art we have started our new topic studying British art and artists. We have produced and have started to illustrate our own books and look forward to sharing our books with you next week.
