Hello, my name is Mrs Nessa and I will be teaching in Year 2 this year.  I am really excited to meet all the children and have a fun year learning, creating and having fun together! 

I grew up in Greater Manchester and moved to West Yorkshire 8 years ago. A few of my favourite things include being a huge Harry Potter fan, watching movies, shopping and spending time with my family.

Week 3

This week in R.E we discuss making good and bad choices, and what could cause us to make them. the children took turn to place cards in the 'good' and 'bad' choice hoops and we then discussed the reasons. The children came up with some interesting answers and is was a way to have an open discussion taking their opinion into account. 

In English we are going to learn to write a post card. This week we looked at the features of a postcard and a WAGOLL. the children then in groups identifies the features independently following a success criteria. 

Week 2

This week we have been learning about addition and subtraction fact families in year 2. The children worked really hard to find the pattern to help them with their maths work. 

It was also a special week as it was Remembrance day, For this special day we created or own poppies out of felt fabric, which also related to our art topic which is fabricate. it was a fun experience making our own poppies to wear for such an important day. 

Autumn 2

Week 1

This week we welcomed year 2 back from their half term holiday and straight away they were busy working. We started our new writing topic. We are looking at Poems. We created our story map and created new actions for it so we could learn it off by heart. Our goal is to write a verse of the poem using the same structure with rhyme.  We also looked at the features of a poem and tried to find them ourselves.

Week 7

This week we looked at the 'Wonders of the World'. Year 2 were focusing on Mount Everest and we looked at the county Nepal where Mount Everest can be found. We learn a lot of new information about this Wonder and created a lot of work. We made a fact file in writing, We created mosaic art of Mount Everest, we made a class map and we also did some grid co-ordination work in maths. We were very busy in our last week of term.

Week 6

This week we have been busy in year 2 like always. We have looked at adding tens and ones and worked with equipment as we were learning something new.

We also conducted a science experiment! Our science topic is 'Everyday Materials' and we wanted to see which material was the best at soaking up water when Mrs Nessa's cat spills his water. We found that Tin foil is not very good and paper towel is the best!

Week 4 - 27.9.21

This week we have been practicing our story map and learning actions for it. We have also edited our story map to add new exciting sight of London. We will be using these new sight in our writing with awesome adjectives to make our sentences pop and to help us draw our very own story map.

This week we have also learnt about our science topic which is about everyday materials. We worked together as a class and in groups to find different objects that are made out of different materials around the classroom.

It has been a busy week in Year 2 with a lot of learning and being creative. We turned our 'Dice of Decision' from art to actual art pieces which are inspired by the artist Miro.

Week 3 - 20.9.21

This week Year 2 have been working extremely hard, especially in writing. We have been looking at the story 'Katie in London as out topic is about the countries of the UK. We read the book and as a class we created our very own story map to help us to internalise and learn the story better.

The children contributed in coming up with ideas for pictures to replace the sentences. 

Week 2 - 13.9.21

This week year 2 have been very busy getting used to the timetable again, they have worked really hard in Maths and English learning all about nouns and adjectives. They have also been busy learning about a new artist called Miro. We used his work as an inspiration to help us to create our own 'Dice of Decision'. This Dice will help us to create our own masterpiece in the weeks to come to keep an eye out!

Week 1 - 7.9.21

Year 2 have had a lot of fun this week getting used to their new classroom and getting to know their class teacher and their friends again. 

They have explored the new areas and have had fun doing a lot of transition work telling the teacher about themselves.

Year 2 have also been very busy as they started Math's and ordering numbers up to 20 as a recap. They have had a fab first week back.
