Week 6 - 7th December 2020 - In Maths this week we have been finishing learning all about the number 3. We have been counting, showing 3 and finding out different ways to make 3. Reception have also been doing lots of mark making this week too. Writing words on the table, using large paper to create maps, chalking outside and writing sounds.

Week 3 - 16th November 2020 - This week in Reception we have been focusing on our topic of 'The World around us.' We looked at a map of the world and talked about where we and our families are from. Then we focused on where we all live now. We discussed Leeds and the places you can go to. The children also looked at their houses on Google Maps, it prompted some lovely conversations.

Week 2 - 9th November 2020 - Reception have been creating their own rainbows for Science Week. We used skittles and hot water and watched the magic happen! On Remembrance Day, Reception watched a video and joined in the National 2 Minute silence. We then created our own Poppies and I am sure you'll agree, they look amazing on the display in the entrance of school.

Week 1 - 2nd November 2020 - What a busy first week back we have had in Reception! We have been learning all about the number 1. We created a 'one' board to show us how the number 1 can be represented in many different ways. In phonics we have been making and writing cvc words. At dinner time, we are being encouraged to use a knife and fork to eat our food. We are all tired and ready for the weekend to relax!

Week 7 - 19th October 2020. This week has been a focus week to promote children's talking, thinking and reasoning. Early Years had a box delivered and all week we have been discussing whether to open the box or not. Lots of new vocabulary was introduced and the children had some very interesting ideas as to what could be inside. We voted and the majority wanted it opened and good job as it was a present from Christopher Pumpkin! We had some milkshakes, yummy marshmallows and a little Halloween party! Have a great half term, see you all next week!

Week 6 - 12th October 2020. Wow, what a busy week! Sorting and comparing in maths, making words in phonics and even time for some very creative portraits of Miss Jackson!!

Week 5 5th October 2020 - This week Reception have made a start on learning a new sound each day in phonics. We have been making our hands and arms stronger with lots of mark making and writing sounds. In maths, we have been learning about sorting and comparing. We are also developing an understanding of same and different.

Week 4 - 28th September - This week in maths we have been looking at 'matching'. We used socks and Noah's Ark to find pairs that match. Lot's of lovely maths vocabulary used by the children this week too. Can you find a matching pair of toys at home?

Week 3 - 21st September 2020 - Lots of gross motor play this week inside and out.

Week 2 14th September 2020

This week in Early Years we have welcomed some new friends into our school. 4 new children have joined us in Reception and 2 new children have joined our Nursery. They have settled in well and are beginning to enjoy making lots of new experiences.

We have spent a lot of time outside and making the most of the lovely weather. Outside we have been developing our gross motor skills through climbing, digging, dancing, using the bikes and being in the large sand pit.

All children have drawn a person as part of their fine motor initial assessment this week. We redo them every half term and it's a great way to see their progress over the year.

Next week we will be talking about our families, who lives in our house and what we celebrate.

Thank you for all your replies for Tapestry, please see Miss Jackson if you need help setting up your account.
